Cargo Insurance

Cargo Insurance - your cargo’s safety Is our priority

When transporting goods across Europe and beyond, even the most reliable carriers face risks - accidents, theft, misdelivery, or cargo damage. That’s why carrier liability insurance (CMR) is an essential part of the logistics safety chain.

Delamode Baltics – always covered by CMR insurance

All our international transport operations are protected by valid CMR insurance to safeguard our clients’ cargo against unforeseen events such as:

  • Damage or destruction of cargo due to a traffic accident
  • Loss of cargo due to theft or robbery
  • Delivery to the wrong address or under improper conditions

Although CMR insurance is not mandatory, our company applies it to every shipment, as a standard of responsibility and safety in transport.

What’s the difference between CMR insurance and additional cargo insurance?

The main difference lies in the compensation amount.

  • CMR insurance covers the cargo value only up to a set limit, determined by international convention and calculated in SDR (Special Drawing Rights) units. This means that for high-value goods, compensation may only cover part of the total value.
  • Additional cargo insurance provides full protection - it covers the same risks as CMR (accidents, theft, damage), but compensation equals the full actual value of the cargo.

Therefore, not every shipment needs additional insurance - only those whose value exceeds CMR limits. This is especially important for transporting valuable goods, machinery, or sensitive products.
