Is logistics to the islands different from transportation in Europe? Although there are many similarities, there are a few more additional requirements. The above-mentioned islands are transported by ferries and so-called “short sea” lines, which ensure the transportation of cargo over a short distance. In order for the cargo to reach Iceland, the Faroe Islands or Greenland, shipping by sea requires additional documents and often has certain restrictions on the type of cargo. Transportation in these directions requires a combination of sea and road transport capacity, which requires more attention, time and attention to the process from logistics managers.
